False start followed by a three-and out. Not a good start.

Nice defensive stand last time around. I don't know how that wasn't defensive pass interference on the deep ball. Brady has had a couple shaky overthrows. I like that they're sticking to running on first down - softening up that middle. Couple nice punts by Miller. Defense has to keep them in it early.

Looks like Carolina has already abandoned their ground game for some reason.

Brilliant play! Too bad Brown is getting old. That would have been 6.

That was a horrible, bogus call, giving Carolina that touchdown. But Belichick isn't stupid enuogh to waste a challenge and timeout on a call to be overturned by incompentent officials.

Is Dick Enberg watching the same game as the rest of us? He keeps misnaming players, missing penalty flags, calling action that isn't happening. Seems to be calling every play like Carolina is the only team on the field. Not to be a homer, but really. This is a national broadcast, isn't it?

I bet Peyton Manning would have gotten a late hit call against Julius Peppers. Peppers took 2-3 steps before he leveled Brady. There's your home field advantage. That 70-yard punt return didn't help either.

What adjustments?

Patriots have given Carolina a short field a couple times. They need to protect Brady a little more, but that's not a major issue. They really need to get a running game going. Run a reverse or a pitch or something. Defensive secondary really needs help.

Turnovers and penalties killed the Pats. They got it to within 3 and then fell apart. Very Un-Patriot-like game for The Champs.

Brady seemed very inaccurate as well on many of his throws and the run game was stymied again. I think they missed Weis' creative play calling in this one too.

We knew coming in Carolina would be tough and would be extra jacked for this game. It came down to too many mistakes on The Pats part and that's what sunk them. I believe 17 of Carolina's points came off of turnovers...

Expect more of the same from Pittsburg. The Pats need to be mistake free next week.

Nice overall analysis, Mr. B. Belichick confirmed my suspicions regarding the first Davis touchdown: Not enough evidence to overturn, even though it looked obvious enough to just about everyone else. No clue why no one asked him about reviewing Brady's fumble, as it seemed his arm was clearly moving forward. Probably the same reason, but I can't believe no one even asked.

"You can't blame the officials," but I don't think they had a very good day at all. Sure the Pats made a more mistakes than they usually do, but I don't think Carolina played such a clean game.

I have to disagree about missing Weis. New England couldn't run the ball in what is becoming an alarming concern, and that really limited what they could do otherwise. I'll have a few more comments on this in my analysis that I'll post later tonight.

Thanks for your input scsatr and Mr. B.

I agree with you about Carolina's play as well. They did not play that clean of a game either, they just took adavantage of the turnovers and all the long yardage the Pats had due to penalties.

I think the verdict is still out on the impact of not having Weis. I think they may be a little more predicable now. During the Oakland game, I was telling my wife what I thought the next Pats plays would be and often times it turned out I was right. She then made the comment, If you know what they're gonna do, don't you think the other team does too? I'm not saying I'm some armchair expert, just pointing out an example.

The AFC East and the NFL in general seems pretty even right now. Almost all the teams are 1-1.
