During my short drive from home to my business, I discovered Gil Santos knows what most current TV play-by-play and "analysts" don't know: What an end-around is. I'd love to hear what Enberg or Gannon called it.
Meanwhile, after giving up an easy TD to KC, the Pats finally got a drive going, but an interception ruined everything. At least they put KC fairly deep. Of course, they're just marching down the field again.
Ya, pass interference. Right. Only guys like Tony Gonzales get that call.
Nice stop in the red zone.
This is getting pretty ugly. Brady looks terrible, but he's not getting any help. Enberg should learn that Deion Branch is 83, and Troy Brown is 80.
Oddly enough, the defense is keeping the Pats in the game with a second red-zone stop; but if they don't score really soon, the game will be out of hand.
I wouldn't give the crowd too much credit for those timeouts. The second one on third-and-goal seemed like a really quick clock, but who's going to prove that? Turns out to be a wasted golden opportunity. I'd like to see a couple replays of that third down to see what happened. We'll have to take the 3 points and hope the defense can keep pace for a while.
Nice play by Hobbs. Down by 14, two minutes left in the half. The Pats can make it a game by executing here. Only one timeout left though. This very likely is your ballgame, folks.
I don't know how New England can win this one now. They're obviously not going to get anything from the officials, who refuse to call a penalty against Kansas City. Now they put, what, 10 seconds back on the clock? What a joke.
"You can't blame the officials," but this is embarrassing. I don't know how the Pats get called for defensive holding for little bumps when Patriot receivers are getting mauled, and there are no calls. It's a miracle New England has given up just 4 field goals after that opening touchdown.
Good to see Belichick chewing out an official walking off the field. This is horrible.
These officials are the worst, Jerry. The worst.
And now the game is over.
The conspiracy continues.
Let's not make too much of this touchdown. It's certainly a good sign, but at minimum, New England needs two TDs and two 2-point conversions while blanking the KC offense. That's a tall order. And they still haven't gotten a helping call from the officials.
I think I'd hold off on Flutie until halfway through the 4th. If it's clearly over then, go ahead. While there's still a chance, you go with the guy with all the wins under his belt.
Well, THERE's what we've been missing with this Patriots defense all season: a timely turnover. This is it. Execute or be executed.
Not to get too far ahead here, but, up for debate: Do you go for 2 if you score the TD?
That's what I though, but more poor execution leaves them two scores back with 10 minutes to go. Not easy. Not impossible. D has to come up huge.
Chiefs got another break on the 3rd and 16. Seymour was coming through the middle and you can see his arm being held for about 2 seconds. That allowed the Chiefs to run another 2 minutes off the clock. You have to hand it to these officials. After all, they're handing it to KC. I lost count of the missed holding calls.
Defensive holding on the Chiefs again on the 3rd down conversion by Branch. Good thing the Pats converted, because the officials refuse to call anything on KC. It's moot though. The interception pretty much seals it. I wouldn't be surprised if there was another uncalled defensive penalty there too. Brady must have been throwing to someone who ended up not being there.
Buffalo lost. There's some good news. Patriots will at least maintain the 2-game lead in the East.
Three passes that should have been caught that turn into interceptions.
Where is red-nosed Robert?
This is Terrible...!!(!!!!!)
Well, it's bad. It's not terrible. New England is still up 2 games on Buffalo and either 2 or 3 on Miami, depending how they do at Oakland, starting now.
